The announcement was made on November 8, 2019 by Sony Pictures Television that White will assume the role of emcee for Wheel of Fortune beginning with the week of episodes that are scheduled to premiere on December 9, 2019. The statement was released following the cancellation of a taping day due to Pat Sajak’s hospitalization for urgent surgery to relieve a blockage in his bowel. Both the original taping day and the one that was postponed the next day were hosted by White. During her presenting stint, guest letter activators were used; Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and other Disney characters were featured during the Secret Santa Holiday Giveaway in the weeks of December 9 and 16. During their guest hosting, the fully automated game board is not touched by the Disney characters dressed in costumes. Afterward, The show was put on hiatus during Christmas week (December 23, 2019). After that, Wheel tapes six episodes a day, three shows for each studio audience; Sajak hosts a “America’s Game” episode for the third show in the afternoon session. On January 6, 2020, White returned to hosting for a final week, helped by “special guest” Maggie, Pat Sajak’s daughter. After undergoing surgery, Sajak was fully recovered and made a comeback to the show on December 5, 2019. The episodes will air on January 13, 2020.

Her mother, Joan, and stepfather, Herbert White Jr., reared her at North Myrtle Beach following their divorce when she was a baby. White adopted her stepfather’s name, a former real estate agent.
