Timeline

After being questioned, Vallow and Daybell left Rexburg the day after. They left behind a storage locker containing pictures and mementos of the children. They were last seen on Sunday, January 26, 2020, in Kauai, Hawaii. Their rental automobile was searched with a search warrant that was issued. Things that belonged to the missing kids were discovered. Additionally, Vallow received a court order from the police requiring her to produce the kids by January 30. The kids weren’t delivered as directed.

Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow, Lori Vallow Daybell’s dependent children, were accused of being abandoned and not receiving enough support after her arrest on Kauai on February 20, 2020. Vallow arrived in Idaho on Thursday, March 5, 2020, after being extradited there. On Friday, March 6, Vallow appeared in court, and the judge lowered her bail from $5 million to $1 million. As of May 2, 2020, Vallow is still being held on a $1,000,000 bond. It is believed that she is not getting any cooperation from at least two local bond businesses.

The Kauai Police Department detained Lori Vallow on February 20, 2020, in Princeville, Hawaii. She was accused of two felonies: desertion and nonsupport of dependent children. She was also accused of criminal solicitation to commit a crime, resisting or obstructing law enforcement, and contempt of court. Her bail was set at $5 million. Later, in order to contest the charges, she consented to be extradited back to Idaho. Her $5 million bond was reduced to $1 million by the judge.

According to reports in official court documents dated March 24, 2020, Vallow and Daybell believed Tylee and J.J. had been “possessed” and turned into “zombies.”

Vallow showed up for a hearing in Rexburg, Idaho on May 1, 2020, with the intention of asking the judge to lower her $1 million bond. Her request was turned down by the judge.

The disappearances of the children and the mother’s lack of cooperation are made more complicated by a series of mysterious murders and a shooting: Charles Vallow, the estranged husband of Lori Vallow, was shot and killed in Phoenix, Arizona in July 2019 by Alex Cox, Vallow’s brother, purportedly in self-defense. Cox himself passed away in December 2019 from unspecified causes. When Brandon Boudreaux, the then-estranged husband of Lori Vallow’s niece Melani Boudreaux, was shot in the driveway of his Gilbert, Arizona home in early October by a car that was still registered to the late Charles Vallow, Boudreaux hired a private investigator to investigate the shooting. Examine the suspicious occurrences. Boudreaux recruited private investigators who noticed the missing children in Idaho. In October of the same year, Tammy Daybell, the wife of Chad Daybell, was attacked in her driveway by someone she thought was using a paintball gun that wasn’t working properly. She passed away in her sleep on October 19, a few weeks later, from what were initially listed as “natural causes”. There was no autopsy or post-mortem. However, law enforcement got suspicious when Chad Daybell married Lori Vallow just two weeks after Tammy passed away, and the cause of death is currently being looked into further.

On October 9, 2019, a masked guy attacked Tammy Daybell in her driveway with an unloaded or broken paintball marker; the offender was not apprehended by the Fremont County sheriff’s office. She was discovered dead ten days later, allegedly from natural causes. Chad Daybell stated that she had gone to bed the previous evening “with a terrible cough” and passed away while she slept. At that time, Chad Daybell refused to have an autopsy or post-mortem, and Brenda Dye, the county coroner, did not override his decision. Tammy Daybell’s body was unearthed and autopsied two months later, but the results were kept under wraps.

According to an email sent by Arizona police in March 2020, Lori Vallow may soon face charges related to the passing of her ex-husband, Charles Vallow. On October 2, 2019, 17 days before Chad Daybell’s first wife, 49-year-old Tammy, went unexpectedly in her sleep, a wedding ring was bought on Amazon for $35.99. Vallow used her late husband’s Amazon account to pay for the ring. The ring was in the name of Charles Vallow, who had passed away, and it was brought to a townhouse in Rexburg. Even after Charles passed away, Lori Vallow still using his account.

The latest video that was shot of J.J. Vallow as of September 23, 2019, was a doorbell video of him playing with a friend. Kennedy Elementary School in Rexburg is the last known location where he was spotted. Lori Vallow informed J.J.’s school on September 24, 2019, that she would be homeschooling him and had pulled him out of school. On September 8, 2019, Tylee Ryan was last observed at Yellowstone National Park with J.J., Lori Vallow, and her brother Alex Cox. Chad Daybell abruptly stopped communicating, last communicating by text with director Devin K. Hansen. Two Venmo payments to Tylee’s elder half-brother, Colby Ryan, were made from her account in October. On October 10, 2019, a single payment was sent along with a note that

read “we love you.” On October 16, 2019, a heart emoji was used to send the second payment. Colby claimed that since October, he had not heard from Tylee. He texted Tylee to let her know he was concerned, and she responded on her cell phone, saying she was safe but too busy to talk. He was increasingly concerned after calling Tylee several times and getting no response.

On November 5, 2019, Vallow and Daybell got married in Hawaii. Both of them were informing people in November of either Tylee Ryan’s 2017 passing or Lori’s lack of minor children. On November 26, the police went to the townhouse owned by Lori Daybell in Rexburg, Idaho, at the request of JJ’s grandmother to check on JJ’s welfare. However, Vallow informed the police that

The JJ and his family were in Arizona. Lori Vallow and her brother were packing a vehicle outside of her house that evening, according to a neighbor. The house was unoccupied when the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the police showed up the following day to search it. Investigators also searched Chad Daybell’s residence.

The Rexburg police, Fremont County sheriff’s office, and FBI intensified their investigation from December 2019 to January 2020 into the disappearance of Ryan and Vallow, Tamara Daybell’s “suspicious death,” and the Daybell family’s escape from Idaho. During this time, evidence was gathered and Tamara Daybell’s body was excavated for an autopsy. The grandparents of J. J. Vallow and Colby Ryan begged the Daybells to give the kids back, with the latter threatening to give a $20,000 reward. According to investigators, “‘Joshua and Tylee’s lives are

the kids are not with Chad and Lori and are in danger. Although Lori has “completely refused to assist this investigation, [choosing instead to leave the state with her new husband],” she is aware of their whereabouts and what has happened to them. The Daybells, via their attorney, stated: “Chad Daybell was a devoted husband and has the backing of his kids in this situation. Lori Daybell is a loving mother who takes offense at claims that she is not. We’re eager to discuss the accusations once they’ve progressed past conjecture and hearsay.”

When Lori Vallow abruptly left the storage container she had rented in October 2019, it was empty of goods that belonged to or were connected to J.J. Vallow and Tylee Ryan, including clothes, motorcycles, and pictures.

Alexander “Alex” Cox, Lori’s brother, attacked Joseph Ryan in 2007. He threatened to kill him and tased him. After admitting guilt, he was given a 90-day jail sentence. On April 3, 2018, Ryan passed away due to a myocardial infarction. The Ryan family referred to Lori as “Lolo”.

Lori Vallow became “obsessed” with Daybell’s Standing in Holy Places series of books around the year 2015, a friend of hers said. The Vallow family relocated to Arizona from Hawaii after spending roughly 2.5 years there. She initially appeared with Daybell on the podcast Preparing a People (episode “Time to Warrior Up”) on December 5, 2018, and she would return on subsequent episodes. Lori Vallow informed her husband in February 2019 that “she no longer

Charles Vallow filed for divorce in the same month, claiming that his wife had stolen $35,000 and “threaten[ed] to murder him.” However, Vallow later withdrew the suit, stating that he “wanted to try to make the marriage work.”

Chad Daybell relocated to Rexburg, Idaho with Tammy in June of 2015 after he claimed to have heard a voice twice urging him to move there from Springville, Utah.
