A British computer programmer named Gavin Wood helped found Ethereum. He served as the first chief technology officer of the Ethereum Foundation, created Solidity, and drafted the Yellow Paper that described the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Following his departure in 2016, he co-founded Parity Technologies (formerly Ethcore), which creates the fundamental building blocks for Ethereum, Bitcoin, Zcash, and Polkadot, an interoperability protocol he also co-founded. Together with Jutta Steiner, who had also previously worked at the Ethereum Foundation, Wood launched Parity Technologies (formerly Ethcore), which created software for businesses using blockchain technology and built a client for the Ethereum network.
