A British computer programmer named Gavin Wood helped found Ethereum. He served as the first chief technology officer of the Ethereum Foundation, created Solidity, and drafted the Yellow Paper that described the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Following his departure in 2016, he co-founded Parity Technologies (formerly Ethcore), which creates the fundamental building blocks for Ethereum, Bitcoin, Zcash, and Polkadot, an interoperability protocol he also co-founded.
